Ted's Throw
Ted was very special to Sue and Chris as they gave him a second chance in life. Ted was abandoned by his owner when he was a year old and then spent a couple years of his life without proper care and attention. When he was rescued, his hair was matted as he had not been groomed and he was only half of the target weight for a German Shepherd Dog of his age and had very little muscle on his legs. Sue and Chris took on Ted and gave him a second chance. Through lots of love and proper care, including physiotherapy, Ted built up his strength and turned out to be stunning, beautiful example of a German Shepherd Dog. Ted passed away when he was 10 years old after having 7 years of love and being the centre of attention within his new home.
Sue and Chris saved lots of Ted’s fur from grooming him over the years. His fur is soft and luxurious. After I made them a cushion, a dog and a couple of knitted hearts from the fur, we decided to make something special, for a special dog. Hence the throw. It turned out beautiful and looks good on a chair or a sofa and would keep you very warm. I have never wanted to make clothing from dog’s fur as it is far too hot to wear. A throw seemed to be the obvious compromise.
